Mission Statement and Goals of St. Joe’s Youth Ministry
St. Joseph Catholic Church commits to not just creating a new program or ministry for its young people but in fact incorporates them into the life, mission and work of the Catholic Church. We commit to:
- Empowering young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in the World today.
- Draw young people to responsible participation in the LIFE, MISSION AND WORK of the local faith community.
- Foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.
These goals are achieved through various components: Advocacy, Catechesis, Community Life, Evangelization, Justice and Service, Leadership Development, Pastoral Care and Prayer and Worship. We strive to include as many of these components as possible in
everything we do.

St. Joe’s Youth Group Brief Description of Events – Fall 2008
Fishbowl Faithsharing - Come learn, pray and share your faith with other Teens! This includes small and large group discussion about anything you want to learn pertaining to, but not limited, faith, Catholic beliefs, Holy Trinity, Jesus Christ, Church History and Teachings, the Sacraments, Life in the Spirit, the Dignity of the Human Person, Moral Issues, Virtues, Personal Growth, Relationships and Sexuality (whew long list but you get the picture) so that means give it a chance, come with questions and lastly a willingness to learn and grow! Every Wednesday at 6:45pm -8:15pm except for November 26th and December 31st. We will meet in the Parish Life Teen Center (which is downstairs).
G.O.D. - Get On Down (literally) to St. Joe’s Teen Center for hang out time, this includes but is not limited to, games, cards, TV, movies and of course homework! Every Monday at 7:30pm-9:30pm except for November 24th and December 29th. We will be in the Parish Life Teen Center (which is downstairs).
Junking for Jesus - Help St. Joe’s Youth Group recycle on Saturday, November 15th from 9am-11am. All money earned will benefit St. Joe’s Youth Group but you will also have the satisfaction of making a difference for our environment. All are welcome to help out (maybe some donuts and bagels come with helping out)!
Ohio State vs. Michigan Party - “Hang on Sloopy, Sloopy Hang on…” So you’re an Ohio State or Michigan fan (maybe both) then head on down to the Teen Center for a chance to watch the big game on a big screen TV! Free wings, pizza and drinks will be served also prizes will be given out (can’t have a party with no prizes!) Not a football fan, no problem, then just come on down to eat, play cards and hang out. The event starts at 12:45pm and goes until the game ends. Please bring some kind of snack or dessert to share!
Random Acts of Kindness - “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer….” Get ready for singing our favorite Christmas Carols at Auglaize Acres on Saturday, December 20th at 2:30pm, we will leave St. Joe’s around 2:00 pm. We will be spending the afternoon with the older folks of Auglaize Acres singing Christmas Carols and sharing some hospitality of holiday baked goods!
Tacky Christmas Sweater and White Elephant Gift Exchange Party Lock-In - St. Joe’s will be having its First Annual Tacky Christmas Sweater and White Elephant Gift Exchange Party Lock-In. That’s right find the tackiest Christmas sweater you can wear, maybe in your closet?!! Prizes awarded to the top three tackiest sweaters (we will vote so its official)! This is going to be one heck of a party which means you should be there celebrating the end of the semester at St. Joe’s Youth Group with yummy food, games, music and of course “Christmas Gifts.” Gifts can range from just about anything, maybe that sock that doesn’t have a match (please wash it) or half used batteries. The sillier the gift the better (keep the gifts appropriate, yes I am talking to you). Do NOT spend more than $5 on a gift, they must be wrapped. This event will take place on Monday December 22nd at 7pm in the Parish Life Teen Center and will last until Tuesday December 23rd at 9am. Hope to see y’all there looking spiffy in your
sweaters!
Winter Schedule will come in December! I hope to see some of you at the events!
